Ladies Auxiliary
The mission of the Ladies Auxiliary of Robinson Township #1- Groveton has not changed in 90 years which was, and still is:
The organization will stand by and help the Robinson Township Volunteer Fire Company when necessary or asked.
Catherine Kish was instrumental in establishing our organization in the fall of 1928 and was our first president.
Throughout the years the auxiliary has done a lot to help with fundraising for new trucks, kitchen appliances, drapes and window treatments for both the previous and new firehalls and numerous other items that were needed. The ladies hosted many dinners as part of their fundraising. You name it, they cooked it! From spaghetti, chicken, venison to helping with Fish Fries. They have held card parties, bingos and bake sales and helped with the Corn Roasts which trhe Firemen used to hold at Groveton Field.
Today we hold Purse Bashes and raffles and an occasional flea market. We have been able to host wonderful summer picnics for our firefighters, ladies auxiliary and their families to show our appreciation.
There was an organization called the Ladies of the Groveton Honor Roll that raised and provided the funds to build our existing Honor Roll on Route 51 in 1947. In 1971 they turned it over to the fire department to maintain. Since that time, the Ladies Auxiliary have provided a wreath to be placed at the Honor Roll every Memorial Day to honor our veterans and military.
Today, we proudly are 20 members strong with 5 members serving 25 or more years! We still continue our fundraising events and stand ready to assist our Fire Department when they need us to, as our sisters before us did.
